Town manager Joe Royle condemned his side as toothless and passionless in the first half against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night. Only an improved second period display won a point against the lowly Seagulls.

Royle said: "It all added up to a good away point for us. We were toothless and passionless in the first half and words were said in the dressing room.

"We could have won it in the end and that would have been very hard on Brighton.

He added: "We have no problem passing the ball except passing it into the net. We were toothless and it is a problem that has to be addressed.

"Naylor and Couñago gave us a bit more bite, we kept the ball better."

"The wind was a bigger factor than you realise. I went down to the bench for the second half and you could feel how much influence it had on the game."

The Town manager was impressed with Bobby Zamora's display: "Zamora was excellent. If we had the money he would be on my shopping list."

Unsurprisingly Steve Coppell was happy with the result which takes his side to 23rd in the division: "Getting off the bottom doesn't mean a great deal. We are not even halfway to survival yet.

"I'm pleased we've made contact, but if you are in the bottom three you get relegated.

"It was important for us to come away with at least a point. Both teams had opportunities to win and a draw was the fair result in the end."
