Clarke in Team of the Day
Tuesday, 11th Apr 2023 18:00

Blues defender Harry Clarke has been named in the Sky Bet League One Easter Monday Team of the Day for his performance during yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.

Clarke, 22, sent over the long throw which led to Conor Chaplin putting Town in front with his 22nd goal of the season.

Robins keeper Luke Southwood, who is on loan from Reading, is also included in the select XI along with former Blues loanee Macauley Bonne, who is back at Portman Road with Charlton on Saturday having scored two goals in his last three games, while ex-Town full-back and academy coach Mark Kennedy is included as the manager following the Imps’ 2-0 win at Plymouth.

Saturday is a huge game & we can't underestimate Charlton, who are in decent form atm. We need back to back wins in the next 2 home games, to keep the pressure on.
We've especially got to look out for Rak-Sakyi who has been excellent for them & has a good return of goals & assists this season. He's areal danger down their right & will occupy Leif defensively, more than he has been used to.
It's nice to see Bonne in a good place & starting league games again, on a personal level; despite the weaknesses his overall game, we have to recognise that he can be a very dangerous forward, who scores goal out of nowhere when things are going well for him, as he did for us. So we can't take him lightly either. He will definitely be up for proving himself at Portman Road.
Let's not forget Scott Fraser also, a good player who has gotten his career back on track at Charlton, who has decent goal & assist numbers from midfield this season, & will be up for this game.
Make no mistake, this is not a foregone conclusion in our favour. We should be confident of beating anyone in the league at Portman Road, but we have to be on it from the start & need to keep pushing to get another goal WHEN we go in front. This is what we have been brilliant at recently, but as we saw at Cheltenham, & as Sheffield Wed have found out, not putting game to bed when dominating leaves you nervy & vulnerable to sucker punch, especially coming off a disappointing result.
