![]() Friday, 3rd Jan 2003 10:16 Town boss Joe Royle has admitted that he has had a number of enquiries regarding his players, one from a cash buyer. Royle admits that with the club in the stuation it is then offers have to be considered. Royle said: "We have had a lot of enquiries for a number of our players but they have been mainly for loan deals which would not really suit us. "We have also had some interest which is not welcome from a cash buyer but the financial situation at the club dictates that we would have to listen. "I don't want to weaken the squad as we are going for promotion but within 24 hours of the window opening there has been a fair bit of interest." Quite who the cash buyer may have been interested in is a mystery but there have been plenty of press reports lately. Marcus Bent is said to be interesting West Ham, Hermann Hreidarsson Birmingham and Darren Ambrose a number of clubs. Interest in the summer from Aston Villa in Matt Holland is also rumoured not to have cooled while West Brom may again come in for Hreidarsson. Even if Town do accept a bid that does not necessarily mean that the player involved will make a move. The lower wages currently offered by Premiership clubs may not be enough to lure away players on large contracts at Portman Road. The transfer window opened on January 1st and the Blues were expecting to have a quiet time. It now appears that the club may be busier than expected before the window's close at the end of the month.
