McKenna Nominated For Manager of the Month
Thursday, 12th Oct 2023 06:00

Town boss Kieran McKenna has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award for September.

The Blues went through the season’s second month unbeaten, dropping just two points from the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield as they ended the month top of the table before dropping back to second.

Town also progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup by coming from 2-0 down to beat Premier League Wolves 3-2 at Portman Road in round three

Also nominated are former Blues captain and coach Tony Mowbray, now boss at Sunderland, ex-Town loanee Liam Rosenior, currently in charge at Hull City, and Cardiff manager Erol Bulut. No Town player is in the running for Player of the Month.

The winners of the awards will be announced on Friday morning.

As expected, although I'm slightly surprised Chappers didn't get a nomination for player.

That’s another thumbs up for everyone at the club, yet I’d swap a trophy for a fit Wes Burns!

It's called "manager of the month" award Bobble, not the "your squad are currently top of the league" award.

I'll take the nomination but not the award. Town have a big enough target on their backs as it is without adding another one. Besides we all know McKenna is the best manager in the 2nd Division so it doesn't need to be advertised.

MOM award is relative, Bobble, not just based on league position or Wins.
With the squad, experience and parachute payments Leicester have, they should be top. Us on the other hand have a bigger, more challenging mountain to climb.
Besides, I don't see Maresca's name on the list, so the panel clearly think there are others who deserve it more.
McKenna for the win.

I hope it's not the dreaded curse that follows this type of award, where you go on a slump for a few games. But I have every faith in KMcK.

I Noticed yesterday, Mckenna is allegedly on Crystal Palaces short-list to replace Hodgson, who is leaving at the end of the season. If true I wouldn't imagine him leaving us for palace for one minute.
As motm he's a cert !

He will step up at some point I expect but I'd wager that he would like to take ITFC as far as he can first before jumping ship.

Lurking in the background must be the dreaded Football Focus interview highlighting the fantastic job he has done !!! IT’s curtains off the back of one of those!!!

If he doesn't win it I for one would like to know the criteria they use.
