![]() Wednesday, 8th Jan 2003 22:52 A report in the Midlands claims that Town offered Hermann Hreidarsson to Birmingham City for £2.5 million earlier this week after Steve Bruce's club showed loan interest in the Icelander. As we first reported back in November, Bruce has had Hreidarsson watched on several occasions. The Blues turned down Birmingham's request to take Hreidarsson on loan, however it appears they were willing to talk about a more permanent move. According to the report Town offered the Iceland international for £2.5 million, however the fee and Hreidarsson's high wages were more than the Midlands club could afford. Back in the summer Town agreed a £3.3 million fee with West Brom for Hreidarsson. Although he had lengthy talks with Gary Megson's club he turned down a move to the Hawthorns.
