The weekend's tabloids are again reporting Sunderland interest in Blues' skipper Matt Holland. The player himself says that he doubts Jamie Clapham will be the only player to leave Portman Road while John Curtis is linked with Town.

According to one paper Howard Wilkinson will move for Holland this week. Holland, in his Independent column (http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/comment/story.jsp?story=368555), says that he has heard of Sunderland's interest but nothing more.

He says that the recent redundancies at Portman Road make two things clear: "The crippling effect of being relegated and the fact that all the clubs' assets are up for sale. That means the players. Will I go? I don't know and apart from the recent rumours that Sunderland was interested, I have heard little."

The Town captain also says he will be surprised if Jamie Clapham is the only departure during the transfer window: "Jamie Clapham left us last week for Birmingham and I will be surprised if he is the last out the door during this shop-window month."

He adds that he still has Premiership ambitions of his own: "I have always maintained that I want to play in the Premiership but equally it must be the right club for me. Clapham has joined a Premiership club but, come May, Birmingham could be relegated."

Elsewhere Town are again being linked with Blackburn defender John Curtis, a story that first appeared in September and was denied by then manager George Burley.

Given the current financial situation Joe Royle has no money to play with, however he has admitted that he could be looking at taking players on loan when he has a better idea of his post-transfer window squad.
