Town Watch Gallagher
Sunday, 21st Jan 2024 10:11

Town’s head of recruitment Sam Williams is reported to have watched Blues target Sam Gallagher in action for Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Gallagher made his first start since September as the Lancastrians drew 1-1 at home with Huddersfield Town yesterday.

According to Sun on Sunday reporter Alan Nixon, Williams was at the game to run the rule over the 28-year-old.

The Blues have had a number of offers in excess of £1 million turned down with Blackburn initially appearing open to allowing Gallagher to move on before getting cold feet earlier in the week, feeling the players’ departure would leave them short on numbers up front.

Rovers were linked with Birmingham striker Lukas Jutkiewicz late last week, while a report this morning says Watford’s Mileta Rajovic is top of their list of potential recruits but with the Hornets after around £4 million for the Dane.

TWTD understands there had been no movement on the deal in the latter part of the week with Gallagher’s start yesterday also an indication that nothing is close.

But Williams’s apparent presence at Ewood Park yesterday suggests the Blues remain interested in the former Southampton striker, who is understood to be very keen on the move.

Stoke City and Sunderland have also been eyeing Gallagher, while his former Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray was reported to be interested in taking him to Birmingham City yesterday.

Maybe we wanted to check that Gallagher had recovered from his injury before we increased our offer? We must sign two big centre forwards next week because, now Ladapo has gone, we have none!

Cambsrover. Think you really should do ur research before coming on here and spouting rubbish. We are among the top6 richest clubs in the country. So could afford to buy anyone in ur team, if it wasnt for the ffp. Whether we'd be willing to pay what Blackburn are asking is a whole different story. If we dont think he's worth it, we won't pay it, simple as that really. But if Blackburn are happy to let him leave for nothing at the end of the season rather than take what's been offered, thats their prerogative. Seems a daft decision tho.

Cambsrover14 (giving your age away?)
Welcome. I hope you don’t go down but if you do, don’t hesitate to come on here for directions and tips for league one away grounds next season. We’ve had plenty of experience in that regard lately. It’s a really tough league to get out of. Enjoy the rest of your season.

You do realise Venky's are billionaires. They are worth 1.86 but can't spend because of the same reason as you lot. Travis will be back in the summer and JDT will be gone so thanks for keeping him fit. And you think you can afford szmodics pmsl. Offering 1m and 1.5m for Gallagher is like going to Poundland and wanting Marks and Spencer food. Lol you're just a small town in Norwich small town in Norwich.

Wonder why Cambsrover feels the necessity to come on TWTD,obviously must be bad supporting presumably Blackburn (shxt hole of the NW) &/or Cambridge. Obviously rate Gallacher but we know his real value & won't pay more. I think Ashton might have an ace up his sleeve & we'll get someone unexpected.
