Naylor Loan Turned Down
Naylor Loan Turned Down
Tuesday, 21st Jan 2003 10:34

Huddersfield Town manager Mick Wadsworth has revealed that he has failed to take Richard Naylor to the McAlpine Stadium on loan. Wadsworth has also attempted to sign Michael Chopra, a team-mate of Kieron Dyer and Titus Bramble at Newcastle.

Wadsworth, a former manager at Colchester United, says he needs to improve his strike-force: "I think if we can get anyone, I still think that it needs to be someone who can score goals.

"I looked at Chopra this week from Newcastle. Bobby [Robson] was willing to help but it was stopped at a higher level, which I understand.

"I tried to get Naylor from Ipswich and again, Joe [Royle] would love to help but they may be selling a player in the next few days so he has to hang onto what he has got."

Although the Blues have had no bids since Birmingham came in for Jamie Clapham, Wadsworth's comments indicate that Town are awaiting further interest in their players before the end of the transfer window.
