Blues Among Clubs Linked With Skipp
Wednesday, 7th Aug 2024 18:15

Town are reported to be among the clubs eyeing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp.

According to The Telegraph, the 23-year-old is expected to move on before the transfer window closes and is interesting all three promoted clubs, Town, Leicester City and Southampton.

Skipp has been with Spurs since the age of eight - aside from spending the 2020/21 season on loan at Norwich City when he was named in the Championship Team of the Season - and will have worked with Blues boss Kieran McKenna during his time as a coach with the North Londoners’ youth set-up.

Welwyn Garden City-born Skipp, an England cap at U16, U17, U18 and U21 levels, has made 58 starts and 48 sub appearances for Spurs, scoring once. He is contracted until the summer of 2027.

I'd sooner have Jordan James from Birmingham. That seems to have gone very quiet !

1 goal in 58 starts and 48 sub appearances - could be the new Cole Skuse. I can see why people aren't getting too excited by this one, but it takes more than goalscorers to make a successful team.

Would have to trust KM’s judgement on this one, and where he sees him fitting into the squad/team. What is becoming clearer, however, is the huge jump in the process of doing business in the PL. Absolutely no doubt that MA and team are working tirelessly to bring the right players in for realistic fees - and that’s where the challenges lie in the most competitive league in the world. £20M for an ‘average’ PL player, plus wages etc, is at the maximum end of our range; that’s assuming players are available, and want to come here and selling clubs are not greedy. But the bigger and more established clubs will always have a significant edge over us regarding getting deals over the line - it’s the way the dice tumble, and we have to be at the top of our game to secure our targets within the business model we operate to.

Definitely the sort of player for us - still very young and learning, of the Morsy mould so would learn a lot from him, could cover for him when the inevitable bans come along, knows McKenna well and knows he would develop under him, is looking for a club relaunch his career, has Prem experience. Big thumbs up.
