Town Women Host Watford Sunday, 6th Oct 2024 10:15 Ipswich Town Women will be hoping to return to the top of FAWNL Southern Premier Division when they take on Watford at the Martello Ground, Felixstowe this afternoon (KO 2pm). The Blues, unbeaten in all competitions so far this season, are currently second, three points behind leaders Hashtag United but with two games in hand on the Essex side. The Hornets, relegated from the Barclays Women’s Championship last season, are fourth, three points behind Town, also having two games in hand on Hashtag and also Oxford in third on goal difference. The division is very tight with only six points separating the top six. Hashtag are in action away against seventh-placed AFC Wimbledon this afternoon. Midfielder Lucy O’Brien says the pre-season additions have settled into the squad well, both on and off the field. “The mood around the place is really positive and everyone is really excited when they come in to train,” she told the club site. “When you’re cohesive off the pitch, it shows when you’re on it as well. We had a few new signings come in this summer and everyone’s bonded well. There’s a real sense of togetherness in the squad. “We’re all really excited to return home, especially given we’ve had quite a few long away trips. Home games are always nice in front of our supporters and we know they’ll bring an excellent atmosphere. “It will be a tough match on Sunday. Watford have just come down from the Championship and have got a good squad. We will try our best to dominate the game and hopefully get the win.”
