A Few More to Go - Joe
A Few More to Go - Joe

Town manager Joe Royle has admitted that one or two more players may go during the summer. Already Alun Armstrong, Nabil Abidallah and James Pullen have been given frees with discussions ongoing regarding other departures.

Royle says that fans could hear more news next week: "There could be one or two more players leaving. I am still assessing the situation with regard to next season.

"I am still talking with the chairman and this time next week I should be in a far better position to make an announcement."

One player who looks likely to be on his way is veteran centre-half Mark Venus. The former Wolves man is out of contract at the end of the season and has rarely played this term due to injury.

Finidi George and Martijn Reuser were made available on frees in January but the club received no interest. Both are high earners and it looks likely that in the Nigerian's case his contract will be settled once the club is out of administration.

Town's financial situation will almost certainly demand that the Blues sell a couple of the higher waged or more valuable players. Matt Holland and Marcus Bent look the favourites to go with Darren Bent the player the club are most keen to hold on to for as long as possible.
