![]() Friday, 2nd May 2003 16:16 Veteran centre-half Mark Venus has been released on a free transfer by Town. The 36-year-old is out of contract at the end of June and has spent most of this season on the sidelines. Venus joined the Blues from Wolves as a makeweight in the Steve Sedgley deal and went on to make 184 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals. He was recently described as one of George Burley's best buys by current boss Joe Royle. The former Leicester and Hartlepool man had a knee operation in January and has not featured for the Blues since.
