Town have confirmed that they will receive £500,000 from Nottingham Forest if Paul Hart's side are promoted to the Premiership through the play-offs. A clause in the deal which took David Johnson to the City Ground would see Town get the much-needed windfall.

Johnson left Portman Road in January 2001 for a fee of £3 million on the proviso that the Blues would receive an extra £500,000 if Forest made the Premiership within four years.

The Tricky Trees are currently sixth in Division One and look set to meet Sheffield United in the play-off semi-final.

Town recently received £300,000 from Birmingham City after Steve Bruce's club retained their Premiership status, although £50,000 of that was due to Clapham's former club Spurs.

Town could also see more cash this season if Marcus Stewart and James Scowcroft attain agreed numbers of appearances at Sunderland and Leicester.

The Blues would also receive cash from any future transfers of Newcastle's Darren Ambrose and Kieron Dyer. More money is also due on Ambrose if he makes full England appearances.
