![]() Monday, 19th May 2003 14:45 European scout Simon Hunt has been let go by cash-strapped Town. Sweden-based Hunt was the man behind the signings of Dane Thomas Gaardsøe and Spaniard Pablo Couñago, two of the stars of last season. Blues' boss Joe Royle says that Hunt's services are simply something beyond the club's current means: "We have been delighted with Simon's work on behalf of the club, but having a full-time scout in Europe is a luxury we can no longer afford." Hunt joined Town in December 2000 not long after leaving his job as manager of Swedish club Kalmar FF. He had spent his time in Sweden after moving from Wrexham to Elfsborg in the mid-eighties. He is contracted to Town until the end of June and will remain in Sweden, probably returning to coaching. One man not leaving Town is fitness coach Simon Thadani who has been offered a new one-year deal with the club. Three club cars have been returned to their leasing company. Only one belonged to a player, Finidi George's BMW, the others were used by off-field staff. The return of his car may be an indication that the Nigerian is not expecting to return to Portman Road next season.
