Released Celtic keeper Javier Sanchez Broto with join the Blues on their pre-season trip to Scandinavia. Joe Royle is after a new man between the sticks but won't sign anyone until Matteo Sereni and Andy Marshall leave.

Broto will seek to impress Royle during the three game tour of Sweden and Denmark which the club leave for on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old played 10 games in his short spell at Parkhead after joining in January of this year as injury cover. Previously he was with Livingston for two years where he impressed in 54 appearances.

The 6'1" stopper's first Scottish club was Airdrie, Steve Archibald having brought him there from Malaga in 1999. Prior to that he played for Real Zaragoza (where he won a Spanish Cup winners' medal in 1995), Villareal and Castellon.

Even if Broto impresses on the tour it is unlikely he would join the Blues unless Matteo Sereni and Andy Marshall leave first.

Both Lazio and Town have agreed a deal to take Matteo Sereni to Rome and were hopeful that he would complete his switch over the weekend. However, the 50% drop in wages he would be required to take is proving a stumbling block.

Lazio are even reported in Italy to be starting to look to other keepers, with Salernitana's Ruslan Karimovich Nigmatullin and Czech Petr Cech already mentioned. Despite this, Sereni remains their number one choice.

The Blues are reported to be hopeful that Andy Marshall might make a move to Stoke City, but once again wages may cause a problem. Marshall, thought to be on a wage of around £15,000-a-week, is likely to have to take a cut of even more than 50% were he to make a move to the Britannia Stadium.
