Town vice-president Ken Brightwell has died at the age of 84 after a lengthy illness.

Brightwell, a former rally driver, was a member of the Town board from 1964 until 1995 when he became a vice-president.

An estate agent by trade he was also involved in the TV aerial business.

Initially an outspoken critic of the way the club was being run in the post-Ramsey era, Brightwell, a supporter since childhood, was invited on to the board in the close season of 1964 to give a fan's perspective.

His connections with the estate agency business was utilised by the club in helping new players settle into the region.
