Ipswich Town have announced that terms have been agreed with Slovenian club, NK Maribor for the registration of their Slovakian international left-sided defender Amir Karic for an undisclosed fee, pending a work permit.

Personal terms were agreed yesterday with Manager George Burley and Chairman David Sheepshanks when the player visited Portman Road accompanied by his agent and the President of NK Maribor. The 26 year old, who has 36 full international caps, has also undergone a comprehensive medical examination.

The transfer is expected to be completed early next week once a British work permit has been granted. It is thought that the player meets the criteria as he has played the requisite number of international games being more than 75% in the last two years.
