![]() Friday, 20th Feb 2004 09:34 The Town squad will spend some of next week away in the sun in order to get a change of scenery as they go into the last third of the season. However, the trip will not be a luxury affair, the squad will be expected to look after their own kit and pay for their own meals while at their unspecified destination. An 18-man squad will make the trip but there will be no kit man, physio or fitness coach joining them. The trip, aimed at team-building and battery re-charging, is being paid for partly by the players themselves and partly through sponsorship. Manager Joe Royle told the club site that he's done similar things while at other clubs: "It's something I have used before, just to break up the training week, really. "The lads are as fit as they need to be at this stage of the season and it's just something different, a change of climate, a change of scenery. "It's only for a couple of days and is partly self-funded by the players themselves and partly sponsored." Earlier this week the squad spent some time training with the Army Air Corps at RAF Wattisham.
