Released striker Sam Morrow could become the latest player to take the well-travelled path from Town to Layer Road. The Northern Irishman is set for a trial with the north Essex club.

The 19-year-old will play in a reserve game against Northampton Town this afternoon.

Morrow, whose contract with Town has been paid up, recently impressed Stockport in trial match against Macclesfield. Chief scout Gil Prescott said afterwards that the Edgeley Park club were keen to see him in action again: "He played very well and showed a lot of promise. We would like another look at him.

"We've spoken to his agent about making it happen and we're hopeful that the opportunity will come about."
