A Town U17 side beat Norwich City 3-1 in a friendly at Playford Road on Saturday morning. The academy league season has ended with the Blues' U19 team not qualifying for the play-offs.

New academy inductee Sammy Moore netted the first goal on 28, shortly before Liam Craig converted a penalty.

Another recent academy signing, Danny Haynes, added a third in the second half.

Meanwhile, a third academy inductee, Chris Casement, has been in action for the Northern Ireland U16s at the Ballymena International Tournament.

The Northern Irish have drawn 1-1 with Canada and 2-2 with Finland in their group matches.

Current Town striker Darren Bent made a big impression as part of the England side at the Ballymena competition in 2000 when he was the top scorer.

Seventeen-year-old defender Aidan Collins was in the England U18 squad for last Friday's friendly with Sweden but was not involved in the game which the Scandinavians won 2-0.
