No Jamma Exit Yet
No Jamma Exit Yet

Town boss Joe Royle says he is not expecting midfielder Jermaine Wright's move to Everton to be complete before he goes to Euro 2004 to co-commentate for the BBC at the weekend. Leeds are also interested in signing the 28-year old on a Bosman free transfer but Everton appear strong favourites for his signature.

Royle said: “I spoke to David Moyes, the Everton manager, on the phone and he told me he would like to sign Jamma.

“But David also made it clear that the deal is not as far advanced as I had been led to believe. It seems there is still a lot of negotiating to be done."

Royle is also waiting to hear to hear back from Jim Magilton, John McGreal, Chris Makin and Richard Naylor regarding their new contracts.

The Town boss is more confident that those four will sign new terms: “Jermaine Wright is clearly the least likely of all the players who have been offered new contracts to actually agree and sign a new deal.

“But they all have until June 28th and are perfectly within their rights to wait until then before informing the club of their decision.”
