![]() Monday, 19th Jul 2004 09:51 Town boss Joe Royle has denied persistent rumours that his striker target is Everton frontman Duncan Ferguson. Royle's priority is goalscorer but he is also looking for another defender and midfielder. The Blues targeted Ferguson as a loan player last season but Royle says he has not made similar overtures during the summer: "They are not true. I went for him last year and David Moyes was willing to let him go but big Duncan was not interested and I have not gone back in for him since." With finances tight, Town will utilise the loan market again this season in addition to any further permanent signings. It is likely that Spanish frontman Pablo Couñago or Finn Shefki Kuqi may have to leave before a new striker can be brought in.
