Former Town full-back Neil Thomson has joined Leeds United as manager of their Academy. Thompson left his job as manager of Boston late last season.

The former nappy salesman said he was pleased to join the Yorkshire club: "I am delighted to get the opportunity to work with the staff and some very promising youngsters here.

"It's a big responsibility for me, I am just finding my feet here at the moment and fact finding about the players and the club.

"To be able to work at these great facilities was a huge attraction. We make sure our youngsters get all the support they need here.

"It is a great opportunity for them as players but we have to produce well rounded individuals too, not just for them to become first team players but to ensure that those people who don't make it enjoy the experience and go away from here with their lives enhanced.

"We have to get the recruitment and the coaching right, then it's about making sure they have the right ethics to take them through on the long road into the first team."

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell knows Thompson from their time together at Scarborough.

Out-of-contract Town midfielder Jermaine Wright moved to the Elland Road club at the beginning of the month.
