![]() Saturday, 28th Aug 2004 21:35 Town chairman David Sheepshanks has hit out at claims that the club had agreed to a deal which would have seen Darren Bent move to Charlton but backed out at the last moment. The Addicks confirmed on Friday their bid was of £3 million. Sheepshanks told the club site: "Last week Charlton Athletic Football Club made an official approach for Darren Bent. "Contrary to reports and speculation in the local press, no agreement was at any time reached between the clubs. "An offer was made, given careful consideration by the board, and declined. "There have been no further discussions since." Charlton manager Alan Curbishley hinted on Friday that they may continue their attempt to sign Bent, while the player himself is understood to want to talk to the Addicks.
