![]() Monday, 6th Sep 2004 10:23 Former loan star Alan Mahon is again being linked with a return to Portman Road. Mahon had a successful spell with the Blues last autumn while a Blackburn player but was eventually sold to Wigan with the Blues unable to match the fee paid by the Latics. But all has not gone smoothly at the JJB Stadium for the Irish international, who is yet to make a league appearance this season. Town boss Joe Royle made an enquiry regarding his availability in the summer which was rejected by Paul Jewell. Royle is known to be keen to strengthen his squad through loan signings and the re-signing of the 26-year-old could well be part of his plans. Mahon joined the Blues on loan last September, scoring one goal in seven starts and four sub appearances before returning to Blackburn at the end of December. He signed for Wigan for an undisclosed six-figure fee in February.
