Klug Confirms Keeper Deal Wednesday, 9th Mar 2005 12:38 Academy director Bryan Klug has confirmed that Icelandic goalkeeper Óskar Pétursson has agreed to sign a two-year scholarship, as TWTD reported yesterday. Klug is hopeful that midfielder Björn Orri Hermannsson will also be with Town by the time Pétursson starts at the Academy in the summer. Recruitment officer Malcolm Moore has been in Iceland this week completing the deal with Pétursson's current side Grindavik and forging links with a number of clubs. Hermannsson is with Fylkir at present, another side with whom the Blues have links. Klug says Iceland is seen as an unexploited source of young players: "Malcolm has been working hard at establishing contacts over in Iceland. We see it as an area that has already produced a number of leading players but is still largely untapped. "Both Óskar and Björn have impressed sufficiently for us to make them offers and we are delighted that Óskar has already accepted." Klug has also confirmed that the Blues are keen on further Icelandic signings: "There is another young striker, Viktor Unnar Illugason, who was over and scored for us in a game against West Ham. "He is a year younger than the other two and we like the look of him as well, so he will probably be back at some stage." Klug has also confirmed that Hungarian midfielder Zoltan Stieber, recently on trial at Playford Road, has been asked to return for a further spell. The U16 international currently plays for Újpest in his home country.
