![]() Thursday, 10th Mar 2005 18:02 Powergen have extended their sponsorship of Town until the end of the 2005/06 season. The utility have sponsored the Blues since 2003/04, having inherited the deal when they took over TXU Energi, who had sponsored the Blues since 2001/02. Town's new sales and marketing director, Andrew Goulbourn, welcomed the news: "We are absolutely delighted that Powergen has extended its sponsorship of Ipswich Town. "Over the last two seasons, Powergen has clearly demonstrated the strength of its support for the club and we see this renewed commitment as a very significant and positive move for us. "We look forward to continuing our very good, close working relationship during what promises to be an exciting season ahead." Powergen's sponsorship manager, Mike Thompson, is keen to continue the existing relationship with the club: "With so many Powergen customers across East Anglia, Ipswich Town Football Club represents an excellent fit for us and we're very excited to be taking up our option to renew for a further season, and building on our already excellent partnership with the club. "Our sponsorship means far more to us than simply displaying our logo on the front of the playing shirts. It actually enables us to communicate with ITFC fans as well as the wider community. "We'll be continuing to work closely with the club to ensure that even more fans can benefit from our partnership and are given the opportunity to gain closer access to the club they feel so passionately about." Powergen, the consumer brand of E.ON UK, part of the German E.ON Group, plans to work alongside the club on new matchday experiences for children, skills classes for schools and local football clubs, and behind the scenes trips to Town's Playford Road Training Centre.
