Former Town manager Bill McGarry has died at his home in South Africa after a long illness, he was 77. McGarry led the Blues to the Second Division title in 1967/68.

The former England international took over from Jackie Milburn in October 1964, leaving in November 1968 to join Wolves where he felt there was a greater chance of success. Bobby Robson raplced him in January 1969.

While with Wolves McGarry reached the 1972 UEFA Cup and won the 1974 League Cup. He moved on to manage Newcastle between 1977-80 and had a second less successful spell at Molineux in 1985 which lasted just 61 days.

The funeral is on Saturday in South Africa, while Wolves will have a minute's silence in his honour prior to their game with Stoke City, McGarry's hometown club.
