Alun Armstrong flew into Stansted this morning and this morning and immediately began training with his new team-mates. Town have set a press conference for 2pm this afternoon when the new signing will be paraded. He is expected to travel with the squad to the North-West and may even get a place on the bench at Anfield on Sunday.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks said of the signing: "The price is competitive, but of course it takes into account his injury record. The signing is a calculated gamble but we feel it is one that could well pay off."
