Reserve duo Scott Mitchell and Scott Barron will spend the summer recuperating after surgery. Mitchell has an ankle injury, while Barron continues to be hampered by his groin.

Left-sided defender or midfielder Barron missed much of last season due to the injury and had an operation before Christmas which failed to solve the problem.

Physio Dave Williams told the club site: "Scott has seen a couple of specialists and it's now been decided that he needs another operation.

"He will have the surgery in the middle of the month but we have been told it will only be a three-week recovery period.

"Hopefully, he will be back in some form of training in July, but he will obviously be behind the other players."

Mitchell damaged ankle ligaments and and has already had surgery. Williams says the reserve team captain will start pre-season after the rest of the squad: "He will be back in the gym at the start of July and looking to strengthen the ankle and work from there.

"But, because the cast will only come off a week or so before the other players return, he will be playing catch up."

Town's pre-season training begins on July 4th.
