Wright Off?
Wright Off?
Thursday, 26th Aug 1999 12:24

It is being reported this morning that Richard Wright is set to be a £4 million target of Manchester United. United currently have Mark Bosnich out injured with his deputy Raimond Van Der Gouw only just making last night's game with Coventry. Town are reported to have offered £650,000 for 27-year-old Barnet 'keeper Lee Harrison as a replacement for Wright. Harrison's agent Howard Green is quoted as saying: "Ipswich are very keen on completing a deal for Lee, because the indications are that Wright could be on the move within the next two weeks."

The lure of Manchester United may be enough to drag Wright away from Town, although it will be interesting to see where he would be in the pecking order. Would he be ahead of United's new signing Bosnich, back from injury in just a few weeks? Or would he find himself behind Van Der Gouw? Then again how much credence can we give to this report, we've heard it all so many times before haven't we?

Injury news for Town is that Mark Venus will be back in the side for Saturday, with Wayne Brown dropping to the bench. Jermaine Wright is touch and go with an ankle injury sustained on Tuesday night. The right wing-back spot could go to either Mick Stockwell or Fabian Wilnis.
