Kelvin Davis says he is looking forward to the new challenge that his move to Sunderland brings. The 28-year-old is expected to complete his switch to the Stadium of Light later today.

Davis says he is pleased to be joining the Black Cats but will miss being a Blue: "Sunderland are a terrific club and I'm really looking forward to the new challenge.

"In many ways, joining Sunderland was an easy decision to make but in others it was very hard.

"That's not me sitting on the fence. It's just that I loved playing for Ipswich Town.

"It's a brilliant club and in the time I've been there I can count on one hand the number of people I didn't get on with.

"On the other hand though this is a great opportunity for me.

"It's a chance to play in the Premiership for a club famous for its passionate fans, with a great stadium and great facilities.

"It's a new challenge and I'm really looking forward to it."

Reports in the North-East indicate the fee is £1.25 million, although it is unclear whether the Blues will receive this up front or with part of it due as top-ups.

An undisclosed percentage of the fee goes to Davis's former club, the side now known as the MK Dons.
