Former Town keeper Matteo Sereni says he is leaving Lazio after enduring a season of dressing room unrest. Sereni, who joined the Biancocelesti from the Blues in the summer of 2003, says he will move on to Palermo.

Sereni, now 30, said: "I cannot stand another season like this. There is an extremely good chance I'll be joining Palermo for next term."

A number of players, including former West Ham man Paolo Di Canio, had been involved in rows with ex-coach Giuseppe Papadopulo in a generally troubled season for the Rome club.

Sereni added: "It wasn't easy to gel the new players who were brought in on loan with the so-called 'old guard'. Little cliques were formed and there was never a time when everyone was together in the same team.

"I also had problems with both coaches. I was obviously upset when Mimmo Caso chose Angelo Peruzzi ahead of me when I had played the last 14 games and he wasn't even 100 per cent fit. As for Papadopulo, the less said, the better."

TWTD revealed on Wednesday that the Blues have enlisted the help of the FA and FIFA as they seek compensation from Lazio for the two unplayed friendlies agreed as part of the fee which saw Sereni leave Portman Road.

Town also negotiated a sell-on, however, Sereni is now out of contract and will move to Palermo on a Bosman free transfer.

Elsewhere, former Blue Bobby Petta has agreed a two-year deal with Bradford City. The 30-year-old Dutchman left Darlington at the end of last season.
