Boss Denies Colin Claim

Boss Joe Royle has denied a claim that the Blues made an enquiry for new Norwich defender Jurgen Colin. The Dutchman's representative Hakim Slimani said that Town were in touch with him earlier in the week.

Slimani said: "Ipswich called me two days ago and they were very interested in Jurgen.

"They were looking for a new right-back to give Fabian Wilnis competition. Southampton, too, were interested in Jurgen and they contacted PSV about him."

However, Royle says he has "never heard" of the former PSV player and says no one from Town made contact.

The Blues would certainly have been unable to afford the £263,000 fee and in addition are understood to be looking for a left-sided player, which appears to have been one of the reasons why trialists Rui Marques and Edwin Ouon weren't looked at for a longer period.

Royle is continuing to the search for two defenders and hopes to have one in place before the start of the season on August 6th.

Former loanee David Unsworth is the Town manager's preferred target but a move back to Portman Road would depend on Portsmouth settling his contract or part-funding a season-long loan.
