![]() Friday, 15th Dec 2000 07:31 As expected Town have taken issue with Morecambe over the ludicrous pricing they have suggested for the third round FA Cup tie at Christie Park. The minnows wanted to charge £25 for adult entry into the ground, however, the Blues are to ask the FA to look into the prices. Town see Morecambe's pricing ideas as excessive, higher than fans are paying at Manchester United in fact. A similar situation has unfolded with the cup tie between Charlton and Dagenham and Redbridge. The Daggers wanted to charge £20 for that game, but the FA have made them reduce that to £15. A similar outcome looks likely for Town. No confirmation on the number of tickets for Town fans. Contrary to the email we received from the club Morecambe sources are now suggesting that Town may get as few as 979 standing tickets for Christie Park. Town are likely to be at almost full-strength for tomorrow's game with Southampton. Fabian Wilnis is out through suspension after picking up five bookings, but other than that Town will line-up as at Manchester City in the week and at Liverpool on Sunday. Gary Croft will take over from Wilnis on the right side of defence. Titus Bramble may be fit for a place on the bench, but is still feeling his ankle problem. John Scales still has his back and hamstring problems (see John's TWTD column for more details of this: http://www.twtd.co.uk/scales). Town have lowered the beer prices after heeding the advice of one of its Fans' Forums. The Forum, attended by a TWTD representative, criticised the club for the high cost of beer within the ground. The point was made that a club sponsored by a brewery really shouldn't be overpricing its beer as it has been. The reductions, although not huge, are still welcome. Pints of lager will be £2.30 and bitter £2.20. Former Town loanee Paolo Vernazza is being lined up as a replacement for another ex-Blue Steve Palmer at Watford. Vernazza had a busy day yesterday, rightly snubbing an offer from Norwich before deciding to move to Vicarage Road. Palmer, a centre-half as well as midfielder like Vernazza, is nearing the end of his career at Watford where he bacame a bit of a hero. Vernazza came to Town to replace Kieron Dyer after he had broken his leg in a game against Watford. A strange circular nature than story hasn't it?
