Town have asked the Football Association of Ireland to release keeper Shane Supple from their U19 squad playing two friendlies with Bulgaria later in the month. The Blues want the 18-year-old at the club for the Carling Cup tie at home to Yeovil on Tuesday, 23rd August.

As reported earlier, striker Billy Clarke has already been withdrawn from the party as he is still recovering from the knee operation he underwent at the end of last season.

In recent years the Blues have used Carling Cup ties to blood youngsters and Supple looks likely to make his senior bow against the Glovers.

The Blues will almost certainly make a number of changes with the likes of Dean McDonald and Jimmy Juan also in line for first Town starts. Scott Barron, who made his debut in the competition last season, may also be fit enough to be involved after a summer groin operation.
