Town are planning to play a number of their winter reserve matches at Needham Market's Bloomfields this season. The Blues have been looking into switching their reserve fixtures away from Portman Road for a couple of years with Woodbridge Town and Hadleigh United previously mentioned as possible venues.

The club are concerned about the damage done to the Portman Road pitch during heavy winters and want to reduce the number of games played on the main surface.

Back in the mid-nineties, the Blues played reserve games at Bury Town's Ram Meadow, however the venue proved unpopular both with players and fans.

The less than perfect conditions didn't impress players, while regular reserves watchers were unhappy at having to travel to Bury to see the second string in action.

Season ticket holders are entitled to free admittance to reserve games and Ipswich-based supporters complained that the club was diluting the benefits due to them by playing matches in Bury.

The reserves opened their FA Premier Reserve League (South) campaign with a 2-1 home win against Portsmouth on Monday.
