Boss Joe Royle said he was proud of his players despite his side losing a two-goal lead against Coventry City. The Town manager felt his team's performance was a vast improvement on Sunday's defeat at Reading.

Royle said: "I was proud of my players tonight. After our performance at Reading, when I was embarrassed, they were smashing and stood up to be counted.

"Kevin Horlock damaged his rib and Owen Garvan is on crutches. Jimmy Juan and Matt Richards were called into action in midfield, and I have to be pleased with them. Horlock and Garvan must both be doubtful for Saturday's match at home to Watford."

The Town boss was convinced that Nicky Forster should have been awarded a goal in the 79th minute from Jason De Vos's cross and Sam Parkin's knock down: "The Coventry defender was almost in the back of the net when he headed clear. It was hard to believe, and the officials were very quiet about it afterwards.

"The Coventry players told our players that it was over the line, but that's done with now. It's an incident for those who want goal-line technology. To see the shot frozen, it was quite conclusive.

"Nicky Forster is still two or three games from full match fitness. He could have put us 3-1 up, and it was a game we should have won comfortably, but could also have lost, because Coventry looked dangerous on the break.

"I think you must be 6ft 1in to get into the Coventry team, but generally we held them well."
