Currie Move Downplayed
Currie Move Downplayed

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell is reported to have downplayed suggestions that he is ready to move for Town midfielder Darren Currie. However, the story in the Yorkshire press suggests the Whites would allow left-back Dan Harding to leave Elland Road over the summer.

Blackwell isn't quoted in the report, the Leeds boss having stated yesterday that he won't comment on transfers until they are completed, but is said to have "responded coolly" to claims of his interest in the 31-year-old winger.

Yesterday, Town boss Jim Magilton confirmed that talks were ongoing with Leeds regarding Currie's future, with the Blues interested in signing 22-year-old left-back Dan Harding in a swap deal.

A source close to Harding is reported to have said that the former Brighton man is happy at Elland Road but concedes that he might have to leave over the summer.

The former England U21 international joined the Whites a year ago for a tribunal set initial fee of £450,000. That figure was due to rise to a maximum of £850,000 on appearances, Leeds winning promotion and if Harding won full international caps. Brighton are also due an unspecified cut of any transfer fee paid for the Gloucester-born player.
