Midfielder Gavin Williams returns to the squad for the first time since late January as the Blues travel to take on Preston North End at Deepdale. The Blues are without the suspended Alan Lee, but Jon Walters is back in the squad after missing the Southend game with a hamstring problem.

Full-back Scott Barron has returned to the Blues at the end of his one-month loan spell with Wrexham. The 21-year-old made three appearances during his time at the Recreation Ground.

Winger Jaime Peters says he is keen to stay with the Blues beyond the end of his two-year deal which is up in the summer. The Canadian will also have to secure a new work permit to remain at Portman Road.

Striker Alan Lee slammed referee Martin Atkinson for failing to award him a first half penalty and showing him a second yellow card for handball during Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Southend. Lee feels that the video evidence shows the ref got it wrong in both instances.

Loanee Franny Jeffers will undergo a scan today before a decision is made on whether he will return to Blackburn. The former England international limped off in the first half of Saturday's game with a hamstring problem which he feared was a tear likely to keep him out of action for around six weeks.

Darren Currie played the third game of his trial spell with the LA Galaxy on Thursday as Frank Yallop's side beat the Houston Dynamo 1-0 at home. Currie came on as a 72nd minute substitute.

Town's U18s drew 1-1 with Tottenham at their Spurs Lodge training ground on Saturday morning. Liam Trotter netted for the Blues after 12 minutes, Jonathan Obika equalising for the home side seven minutes before the break.
