Town threw away a two-goal half-time lead as Preston left Portman Road with a 3-2 win. Jon Macken put the Blues ahead from the spot, then Alan Lee added a second as there looked to be only one winner. However, the visitors scored three times in 12 minutes via Nugent, Chilvers and Whaley. |

Town president Sir Bobby Robson has resumed his role alongside Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton after being given the all-clear by his medical team. Robson underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour at a Newcastle hospital on August 23rd. |
