Town boss Roy Keane says the loanee he is hoping to sign from a Premier League club in the next couple of days is a younger player rather than an experienced campaigner. After last night’s 2-1 Carling Cup win at Millwall Keane revealed that results elsewhere are likely to mean the player he has been after for some weeks will become available.

Academy schoolboy Jack Simmons won his third Wales U17 cap this morning as his side lost 1-0 to Denmark in the first game of their European Championships qualifying group in Lithuania. Striker Simmons came on as a 58th minute sub.

The Blues manager, who is expecting news on his targeted loan signing in the next couple of days, says a number of the fringe players involved against the Lions have pressed their claim for inclusion at Scunthorpe on Saturday.

Boss Roy Keane has confirmed that coach Ian McParland will stay with the club until the end of the season. McParland, universally known as Charlie, left the club in the summer for personal reasons but returned after new coach Gary Ablett was taken ill.
