Town midfielder Owen Garvan won the U21 Player of the Year category at the 19th Eircom/FAI International Soccer Awards on Sunday evening. Garvan beat fellow nominees Sheffield United's Stephen Quinn, brother of Town's Alan, and his former Home Farm team-mate Darren O'Dea of Celtic.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks is reported to have withdrawn from the interview process for the job of FA chief executive. Sheepshanks, a member of the FA board which is charged with choosing a successor to Brian Barwick, was believed to have been on the shortlist for the role.
