Simon Clegg says he plans to return home to Surrey and reacquaint himself with his family now that his four-year stint as Town chief executive is at an end. He will then take a holiday before looking for another role in sport.

Exiting chief executive Simon Clegg has confirmed that, as TWTD reported earlier, directors Jonathan Symonds and Ian Milne will become Town’s joint-managing directors with fellow board member Martin Pitcher working with them. Owner Marcus Evans will also take an increasingly hands-on role at the club he took control of at the end of 2007.

The Blues announced Clegg’s exit by mutual consent earlier today with members of the current board and owner Marcus Evans taking on a more hands-on role at Portman Road.

Town have announced that chief executive Simon Clegg is to leave Portman Road after four years at the club. A press release from Town says that owner Marcus Evans and the rest of the club’s board will take a more active role in the running of the club.

Striker Paul Taylor is making progress and is still expected to be fit for the start of next season, according to assistant manager Terry Connor. Taylor, 25, suffered a foot injury which ultimately required surgery in the September home defeat to Wolves, only his third game for the Blues following a £1.5 million switch from Peterborough.

Former Town chief executive Derek Bowden has been appointed to the same role at Essex Cricket. Bowden was at Portman Road from 2002 until 2009, helping to steer the club through the financial difficulties which followed relegation from the Premier League.
