Bryan Klug doesn’t believe the Blues having applied for Category Two academy status will leave them at a disadvantage despite Norwich and clubs in London aiming for Category One. This summer sees a reorganisation of youth football with the introduction of the Elite Player Performance Plan.

Returning Blues stalwart Bryan Klug says his 2010 axing by former manager Roy Keane ultimately did him a favour as it gave him the chance to spend two years broadening his horizons at Tottenham's academy. Klug, who was yesterday was confirmed as Town’s new academy director, was in a head of football development role, having previously been Jim Magilton’s assistant manager, when Keane removed him from the Blues' staff.

Town will learn their first opponents of the 2012/13 season on Thursday at 9.30am when the draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup — the League Cup’s latest guise - is announced. The 2012/13 campaign, which has been pushed back a couple of weeks due to the Olympics, starts with the first round ties which will be played in the week commencing August 13th.

Town academy director Bryan Klug said returning to Playford Road was like “coming home” after his appointment was confirmed this morning. The 51-year-old, who has previously spent more than 30 years with the Blues as a player and a coach, started his new job this morning on a rolling contract.
