Town stars Michael Chopra, Josh Carson and Joe Whight were amongst 300 people to attend Mason’s Football Fun Day at Ipswich Wanderers’ SEH Sports Ground earlier this afternoon. Former Blue Fabian Wilnis and TWTD’s Phil were part of a Celebrity XI which beat Mason’s XI, a team made up of volunteers, 3-1.

Former Blue Fabian Wilnis is the star name in the Celebrity XI playing at Mason’s Football Fun Day on Sunday afternoon at Ipswich Wanderers’ SEH Sports Ground on Humber Doucy Lane. TWTD’s Phil is a rather more dubious addition to the squad, which will be taking on Mason’s XI, a team made up of volunteers.

The funeral of long-time TWTD board regular and lifelong Town fan Nick Brown, who posted under the name of TheDalaiFarmer and died last weekend at the age of 46, will take place at the Seven Hills Crematorium on Felixstowe Road on Thursday 19th July at 1.30pm, followed by a wake at Gresham’s Sports Club in Tuddenham Road. A collection is being taken to buy a brick or bricks in Nick’s memory on the Ipswich Town Wall.

Blues boss Paul Jewell admits that he finds the close season frustrating at times but is determined to remain patient as he looks to add another four signings to his squad ahead of the start of the 2012/13 campaign. The Town manager, who was back at Playford Road for the start of pre-season training yesterday, expects his summer recruitment to stretch into August with Premier League clubs not willing to allow players to move on until nearer the end of the transfer window.
