New Town striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas says he’s looking forward to linking up with his former Cardiff team-mate Michael Chopra on a more regular basis at Portman Road. The duo were together with the Welsh club last season but the versatile youngster, who signed from Arsenal for £1.5 million rising to £2 million on Monday, says he never really got the opportunity to show his best form while on loan with the Bluebirds.

More than 2,000 fans attended this morning’s Portman Road open day to watch Paul Jewell and his coaching staff put their players through their paces on the main pitch. The squad also signed autographs, while face-painting, a freestyle ball juggler and a balloon modeller were amongst the other attractions.

New Town signing Jay Emmanuel-Thomas says the club’s Playford Road training facilities and their Portman Road stadium were part of what helped him make his decision to join the Blues from Arsenal earlier this week.
