Former Town loanee Matt Elliott has announced his retirement from football due to a knee injury. Elliott was with the Blues from March to May this year and made 12 appearances.

New loan signing David Unsworth says the chance to work again with Joe Royle and Willie Donachie was the main factor behind his switch to Town. Unsworth will make his debut for the Blues at Sheffield United on Saturday.

Jaime Peters was a half-time sub for the Canadian U20 side as they completed their games at the CONCACAF qualifying tournament with a 1-0 win over Jamaica. Two previous wins over Mexico and the hosts had already secured Canada a place at the FIFA World Youth Championships in Holland this summer.

Academy striker Darryl Knights played the first 40 minutes for the England U17s as they were defeated 2-1 by Norway in their final game of a tournament in the Algarve. The youngsters finished second of the four teams, having defeated France 3-1 but lost 1-0 to the hosts.

Town's Championship game with Leicester City will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, February 12th after the Foxes defeated Reading in their fourth round FA Cup match. A replay in that tie would have taken place on the day of the league match.

Jaime Peters and Canada's U20s qualified for the FIFA World Youth Championship with a 1-0 victory over hosts Honduras in their second game at the CONCACAF qualifying mini-tournament. The Championship finals take place in Holland during June and July.

Town's first team squad returned from their break in Tenerife earlier today and will go straight back into training on Saturday. Manager Joe Royle says if the Blues can keep picking up points at the rate they have so far this season, then they should win themselves promotion.

Former Town midfielder Bobby Petta is in talks regarding a move to League Two side Darlington. Petta's contract with Celtic was cancelled by mutual consent in November.
