Goals from Michael Kightly and Jamie Slabber saw Conference club Grays Athletic to a 2-0 victory over a young Blues reserves side at the Rec. Striker Alan Lee made his comeback after his summer abdominal surgery, playing the first 45 minutes.

Central defender Gerard Nash has been handed a week-to-week deal with the Blues. The 20-year-old Irishman, who had two cruciate knee ligament operations while with the academy, was released at the end of 2006/07 but new boss Jim Magilton offered him the chance to impress during pre-season.

Belgian international left-back Philippe Léonard claims to have turned down the chance to move to the Blues. The 32-year-old, who has won 19 full caps and featured at Euro 2000, is out of contract having left Standard Liege at the end of last season.

Owen Garvan, Gavin Williams and Alan Lee are all back in full training after missing the pre-season tour of Holland and Belgium. Garvan has been out with shingles and tendinitis, the latter a problem which has also beset Williams, while Lee underwent surgery for a groin injury in the summer.

Former Blue James Scowcroft is set to join Crystal Palace and line-up against Town in Portman Road's 2006/07 opener on August 5th. The 30-year-old forward is undergoing a medical at Selhurst Park, the Eagles having agreed a £500,000 fee with Coventry City and will sign a three-year contract.

Town recorded their third successive 1-1 draw as they completed their tour of Holland and Belgium with a disappointing game at FC Dordrecht. Richard Naylor netted for the Blues, with both goals coming in the opening seven minutes.
