Boss Joe Royle says he will be continuing his search for new defenders while the squad are in Hungary playing friendlies against Újpest and Diósgyõri. Royle says that more trialists could be at Portman Road before the beginning of the season.

Chairman David Sheepshanks is backing Football League chief Lord Mawhinney's call for greater controls on agents. The League's third Agents' Fees Report shows that Town paid agents £155,000 in the six months between January and June 2005.

Former Blue Chris Makin has joined Reading on a one-year deal. The full-back was understood to want to rejoin Town this summer but boss Joe Royle wasn't interested in signing the 31-year-old who left the Blues without a word last summer.

Dean Bowditch scored a hat-trick as Town's reserves romped to a 6-2 win at AFC Sudbury. The Blues came behind to beat the Ridgeons League side having spurned numerous first half chances, the other goals eventually coming from Liam Craig, Darryl Knights and Dean McDonald.

Boss Joe Royle has decided not to offer trialists Edwin Ouon and Rui Marques contracts at Portman Road. The defensive duo played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday's 2-0 defeat against Rangers.

Town have named a squad of 18 for the tour of Hungary at the end of the week. The Blues will fly out to Budapest on Thursday and play Újpest a day later (KO 8pm) before travelling to Miskolc to take on Diósgyõri on Sunday (KO 5pm).

McFly will not be at Portman Road for Town's friendly with Atlético Madrid on July 29th. The club offered tickets to fans of the band after a concert at Christchurch Park on the same night was cancelled and had hoped McFly themselves would attend the match.

Midfielder Kevin Horlock could miss Town's two-match tour of Hungary after picking up a dead leg in yesterday's home friendly with Rangers. Horlock was substituted after 41 minutes of the 2-0 defeat.
